Cape Tachimachi
viewpoint
立待岬
A windswept cliff at the southeastern tip of Mount Hakodate offering raw, dramatic views of the Tsugaru Strait and, on clear days. Aomori Prefecture.
While tourists pack the summit ropeway, this wild cape on Mount Hakodate's opposite side delivers equally stunning views without the crowds. Steep cliffs drop straight into the sea, and the panorama stretches across the Tsugaru Strait to Honshu. In summer, wild roses bloom along the cliff edge. The 15-minute uphill walk from the tram terminal keeps casual visitors away.
