Daimon Yokocho
restaurant
大門横丁
Lively food stall village (yatai mura) with over 20 small izakayas and ramen bars.
This lively alley of over 20 tiny eateries near Hakodate Station recreates the buzzing yatai (food stall) culture in a covered, all-weather setting. Each stall seats only a handful of people at a counter, specializing in everything from ramen and yakitori to sushi, oden, and Hokkaido craft beer. The atmosphere is convivial and slightly chaotic, exactly what a good yokocho should be. It's best experienced in the evening when the stalls fill up and conversation flows easily between strangers. Hop between two or three stalls for a proper Hakodate pub crawl.
