Plateau viewpoint along the Irohazaka winding road offering sweeping views of Chuzenji and the Nikko mountains.
Shinkyo Bridge in Nikko is a curved lacquered structure spanning the Daiya River, painted in deep red and black with gilt metal fittings. According to tradition, the bridge was built at the site where the Buddhist monk Shodo Shonin, who founded Nikko's temple complex in the 8th century, crossed the river on the backs of two giant serpents. For most of its history the bridge was reserved for imperial and official use; it opened to the public only in the 20th century. The surrounding forest turns brilliant red and orange in autumn, and the bridge is one of the most photographed subjects in the Nikko area during the foliage season.
