モエレ沼公園
Sculptural park designed by Isamu Noguchi, blending art and nature with geometric landforms and installations.
Moerenuma Park in Sapporo was conceived by Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi as his final major project, transforming a former garbage disposal site into a 188-hectare sculptural landscape completed in 2005. The park includes a 62-meter man-made mountain, a glass pyramid called Hidamari with a cultural facility inside, and the Sea Fountain, whose water jets reach 25 meters high with choreographed performances from April through October. The design treats the entire park as a single sculpture, with the geometry of each structure relating to the whole. Entry is free, bicycle rentals are available, and evening fountain shows and illuminations run during warmer months.
